Field trip: Berlin!

BrandenburggateDuring the Carnaval school break this past week, we decided to let the family tag along on Blair’s scheduled ministry trip to Berlin. We were graciously hosted by our friends, fellow Tiger fans and directors of SFC Germany, Kirk & Amy Priest and their 3 kids. (Thanks again, guys!) Berlin is an incredible city, and we were so thankful for the opportunity to visit as a family (minus one, Callie – you were missed!). Some of the highlights included: touring the Reichstag and the home of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, seeing the Brandenburg Gate and Checkpoint Charlie, visiting the Pergamom Museum where the Ishtar Gate is located, staying up too late talking (adults), and playing the Wii for hours on end (kids). Good times!!

Bonhoeffer Study
The most surreal moment of the trip would have to be standing in Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s attic study (above), reflecting on the sacrifice that he and so many others made during World War II. May we never forget!
